A couple of weeks ago my apartment suffered an unfortunate calamity. A neighbor on the fourth floor of my building had a radiator pipe burst causing ridiculous amounts of water to flood his apartment and subsequently ALL the apartments below it…including mine. I wasn’t home when it happened. My bedroom ceiling and walls were severely damaged and starting to cave by the time I discovered the mess and my year-old mattress which I loved to death was soaked all the way down to the box spring (had to throw it out and buy a new one). Did anyone catch yesterday’s Oprah? If you did then you saw Billy Joel’s very young wife giving Oprah viewers a tour of she and her husband’s super chic, Nate Berkus-designed townhouse in Manhattan’s West Village. TO DIE FOR! You can see a glimpse in the photos above and below. The main floor has a wide open floor plan and the living room, dining room and kitchen all flow together perfectly. One piece in the home I really love is a black lacquered antique buffet cabinet reveals a surprising hot pink interior when you open its doors. Such a great idea. …

When I was at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show a few weeks ago I stumbled upon the booth of Pamela Sunday, a former fashion stylist and art director who now makes incredible ceramic sculptures that are inspired by nature and science. She even gives her pieces scientific sounding names such as “atom”, “blastoid” and “sprocket.” The flyer I picked up from her booth says her work often conjures up memories of high school biology lab. Inside Housing Works’ West Village location

There’s an amazing vintage store chain here in New York called Housing Works. They sell everything from clothes and jewelry to furniture and home decor items and whenever I’m in the neighborhood of one of their seven locations I always stop in to check out their goods. The very best items are merchandised beautifully in the store windows and put up for auction on the Housing Works website. The cool thing is that Housing Works is more than just a chain of thrift shops…it’s a charity that benefits homeless and low-income people living with …

Last summer entertainer extraordinarie and party planner to the stars Colin Cowie quietly debuted a line of tabletop and entertaining wares exclusively through the Home Shopping Network. All items are very reasonably priced so that the masses can enjoy a bit of “Colin Cowie Chic.” Colin’s first collection for HSN was a stylish assortment that included items such as the below martini glasses, ice bucket and shaker.

Next week, on March 27, Colin will launch his new Spring/Summer 2008 home collection for HSN which features beach themed items organized into three collections titled Opulent Oasis, Coral Chic and Regal Riviera. …

Congratulations is in order for Domino who just garnered its very first National Magazine Awards Nomination! Two in fact! The National Magazine Awards, presented annually by the American Society of Magazine Editors, recognizes excellence in various categories in magazine journalism and publishing. Consider it like the Academy Awards of the magazine publishing world. Domino nabbed a nomination in the Leisure Interest category as well as in the Single Issue category for its March 2007 Green Issue. The awards ceremony takes place May 1st here in New York.
