Did anyone catch yesterday’s Oprah? If you did then you saw Billy Joel’s very young wife giving Oprah viewers a tour of she and her husband’s super chic, Nate Berkus-designed townhouse in Manhattan’s West Village. TO DIE FOR! You can see a glimpse in the photos above and below. The main floor has a wide open floor plan and the living room, dining room and kitchen all flow together perfectly. One piece in the home I really love is a black lacquered antique buffet cabinet reveals a surprising hot pink interior when you open its doors. Such a great idea. I love color but I’m not very daring when it comes to incorporating color into my home so I would totally steal this trick. Even though they wouldn’t be visible everyday, it would make me happy to open a cabinet and see bright pink inside even if its just for a few minutes! I’m very envious of Katie Lee’s closet which was also featured in last month’s Town & Country.  The walls of the jewel-box like closet are covered in gold leaf and the space was designed to have the feel of a 30’s Parisian hotel. I really love the French chaise lounge positioned in the middle of the room. The teal-ish velvet upholstery looks amazing against the painted gold frame. Nate’s signature personalization of classic French pieces can be seen all around the home and since he was designing for a couple you can tell that he was careful in his choice of colors and fabrics so that the pieces don’t read too feminine.
