Buttery soft leather is one of those sumptuous textures that can instantly make a room feel luxurious. I especially love the look of cognac colored leather. It’s neutral so it can pair with just about any color palette and it adds a rich and timeless quality. Here’s a peek at a bedroom I designed which features a lovely cognac leather bed. Inspired by the decor in one of my favorite brunch spots in LA, I juxtaposed the neutral leather with a beautiful aqua colored strie wallpaper by Farrow & Ball.
Cognac leather is typically seen as a more masculine material but paired with the right colors it can create the perfect balance with softer elements in a space such as the aqua wallcovering and plush teal velvet pillow shown here. I also think leather is an underutilized textile in bedrooms but it’s such an unexpectedly chic addition to the mix, don’t you agree?
As you might be able to tell from all of the tight shots, this bedroom is teeny tiny! There wasn’t even enough room for proper bedside tables without obstructing the swing of a closet door on the wall opposite the window. (That’s NYC living for ya!) I found this lovely brass and granite end table which had a width of 16″ and fit perfectly. The geometric shape of the table top gives an edge to the softness in the room. We styled it with a simple carafe of water and a bud vase full of pink ranunculus. I also love the neutral wool rug with the repeating circles pattern which is from my friend Coco’s textile brand, Cococozy.
To live opposite the bed I chose this gorgeous whitewashed oak and shagreen chest of drawers from Made Goods and the abstract art above is also quite stunning!
