My desk

I have fond memories of receiving my first set of personalized stationery. When I was 6 or 7 my mom surprised me with a set of pink, purple and sea green folded note cards, note pads and envelopes with little seashells all over and I thought it was beyond cool that my name was printed on them. I would always find excuses to write notes to people just so I could use it. Nowadays personal correspondence is all about speed and convenience. The prevalence of email has made correspondence quite impersonal and new innovations like text messaging and …

Last year when I was redecorating my living room I had custom pillows made for my sofa. I was going to source top-grade knife-edge pillow inserts from a wholesaler which can be quite expensive but thanks to a tip from my mom I discovered a simpler, more cost-effective alternative. I went to Home Goods and found some very inexpensive down throw pillows in the sizes I needed for something like $9.99 and simply removed the covers so that I could use the down inserts. The facade is being constructed entirely out of frosted …

Remember this adorable cover featuring Ruthie and her pooch? The sofa alone had me at hello!

Sommers’ laid back approach to design exudes a sense of Southern comfort mixed with a bit of East coast elegance – no doubt an influence of her North Carolina upbringing combined with her post-college years spent in New York. A classic Sommers-designed space is quirky and colorful, blending the …

Do you ever feel like life is moving 1,000 miles per hour and you just can’t keep up? That’s how I’ve been feeling lately. I’m sure you’ve noticed my extended absence from the blog. It’s been almost a month since I’ve posted and I am sorry.  Just before I took my birthday vacation in August, my grandma got very sick and after spending more than a month in the hospital, sadly, she passed away on September 16th at age 86. My sweet grandmother was an amazing woman and I feel very grateful for her constant presence in my life over …
