Stylish Coral Bedroom_7 copy

I always believe that when executed well, the use of color can be the single most transformative design element in a room.  Case in point: this cheery, boho-modern bedroom I designed for a model apartment project that debuted last year. I can’t believe I haven’t shared this one with you yet but I’m excited to finally show you this lovely space! Let’s start the reveal by taking a look at what the room looked like before…

Since this was a model apartment, I began the design planning before there were even walls up which is really tough to do because …

It’s always fun to connect with old friends from college to see where they are now. I first met Adrienne Moore, who you probably know as “Black Cindy” from Orange is the New Black, as an undergrad at Northwestern (go Cats!). I remember her being such a big personality with a presence that commanded attention when she walked into a room. So it’s no surprise that just a few short years (ahem) after we graduated she’s now an extremely successful actress who stars on a hit show and is totally killing it! Earlier this year Adrienne wanted …

Guest Bathroom Updte with New Hardware_16

A friend recently moved into a new condo and over the past few months I’ve been helping him transform his new place into a home. It’s a new construction condo so all of the finishes were chosen by the builder and while they weren’t completely awful, some of the choices simply lacked style and didn’t reflect my friend’s aesthetic at all. The condo has four bathrooms and after the expense of purchasing a new home, completely renovating four baths was not in the budget so instead, I helped him make a few simple updates to give the bathrooms a bit …

Nicole Gibbons Alcove Studio Decorating Ideas6

Last week I shared a peek at the living space in an alcove studio model apartment I designed recently and now I’m excited to share a peek into the bedroom. Whenever I’m designing any space, I love to layer on the texture and pattern. Here, I kept the space neutral because it was a model apartment and needed to have a wide appeal but with the addition of a few key elements such as the geometric patterned wallpaper, boldly colored bed and a statement lamp, the space feels colorful and packed with personality. The textures were very important here as …

For anyone who thinks you can’t live well in a small space, here’s a look at one of my latest design projects that proves that theory all wrong! I recently finished up a series of model apartments for a new development in NYC and this is the smallest of the bunch – a 484 square foot alcove studio that’s packed with style and shows how even in a small space you can live large and luxurious! I’m excited to share a tour of this space with you plus show you how to get the look, starting with the entryway and …

A Sunny & Stylish Shared Kids Room Makeover_4

A while back I worked on a project for a young couple who hired me to redesign their two-bedroom apartment. (You can see more of that project here.) The apartment’s smaller bedroom was occupied by their adorable toddler son who loved dinosaurs and was finally ready for a big boy room. But, a couple of months into the project, the family learned they were expecting baby #2!  How exciting! The kicker for me is that they wanted to keep the gender a surprise so I now had to turn what would have been a big boy room into a …
