Naturi Naughton's Nursery

I’m sure you all know actress Naturi Naughton from her role as Tasha St. Patrick on the hit crime drama Power on Starz. She recently gave birth to her beautiful baby girl Zuri in July and I had a blast working with her to design her nursery! Pottery Barn Kids collaborated with us to help create a dream nursery space for Naturi and Zuri to enjoy and I’m excited to share a peek inside the room plus the scoop on how it all came together!

When Naturi and I first chatted about designing a nursery for her baby girl …

Bold Blue Bedroom _Nicole Gibbons Style _2 copy

When it comes to decorating I believe in being fearless with your choices and I’m excited to share this first look at a bedroom I designed where I was absolutely fearless in my choices. It’s no secret that I love color and pattern and in this space I went BOLD!!! Bold colors + a bold mix of patterns and it all works together beautifully. This isn’t always easy to pull off but I wanted to share a few tips on how to confidently mix and match bold patterns and colors in a space.

Cognac Leather Bed + Serene Blue Bed_3

Buttery soft leather is one of those sumptuous textures that can instantly make a room feel luxurious. I especially love the look of cognac colored leather. It’s neutral so it can pair with just about any color palette and it adds a rich and timeless quality. Here’s a peek at a bedroom I designed which features a lovely cognac leather bed. Inspired by the decor in one of my favorite brunch spots in LA, I juxtaposed the neutral leather with a beautiful aqua colored strie wallpaper by Farrow & Ball.

Cognac leather is typically seen as a more masculine …

Coastal Beachy Bedroom Get the Look_8

Fresh and clean. Like a sunny day in May when you can smell the flowers blooming and there isn’t a cloud in the sky. This model unit was in a rental building and like a typical NYC apartment, it’s tiny! The overall apartment inspiration was a beachy, relaxed ambiance so for this bedroom I chose a palette of cool blues for a fresh, clean look. Designing a model home is a bit different than designing a home for a …

Stylish Coral Bedroom_7 copy

I always believe that when executed well, the use of color can be the single most transformative design element in a room.  Case in point: this cheery, boho-modern bedroom I designed for a model apartment project that debuted last year. I can’t believe I haven’t shared this one with you yet but I’m excited to finally show you this lovely space! Let’s start the reveal by taking a look at what the room looked like before…

Since this was a model apartment, I began the design planning before there were even walls up which is really tough to do because …

one_nook_two_ways

What to do when you have an awkward corner in your home that you just don’t know what to do with? Coming up with a functional use for a tricky space that feels useless can definitely be a challenge but with a bit of inspiration and a few new pieces of furniture you can make an awkward corner look pretty and purposeful. The space you see here was actually a model apartment I designed and since no one actually lived there had the flexibility to experiment with different ideas.

This was the space when it was still under construction. I …
