Lupita Nyong'o Nairobi Blue

Like the rest of the universe, I am completely smitten with Academy Award winner (!) Lupita Nyong’o. Aside from her undeniable talent and outstanding performance as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave, Lupita’s beauty, style and grace along with her Cinderella story has captured our hearts so it’s no surprise that all eyes were on her at the Oscars. The entire world was rooting for her to win the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. It’s also a fact that Lupita has been killing it on the red carpet this awards season so the world was also waiting with bated breath to see what she would be wearing.

When Lupita stepped onto the carpet in that sparkling, sky blue silk georgette gown that was custom made for her by Prada, she looked absolutely breathtaking. But the ultimate highlight for me was when she walked on stage to accept her Oscar and reminded us that all of our dreams are valid. What an inspiring woman. But back to the dress… In Lupita’s red carpet interviews Lupita said she chose this shade of blue because it reminded her of her native Nairobi and quickly #NairobiBlue became a trending topic. I think I expected her to wear another body hugging style in a bold color choice since that’s what we’ve been seeing from her so I loved that she switched things up chose a flowing silhouette in a soft shade instead. Everything about her look – from her radiant skin to her angelic, Nairobi Blue dress – was flawless. So in honor of Lupita’s celebrated Oscar win, below are a few Nairobi Blue inspired paint colors and home decor looks I’m loving.
