If you’ve kept up with the blog recently, you probably know that I’m utterly obsessed with Instagram! It is by far my favorite social network and I love being able to visually chronicle all of the people, places and things that inspire me and share it all with you! Here’s a look at what I’ve been up to lately, via my iPhone and Instagram lens. Be sure to follow me @nicolegibbonsstyle!

I’v been spending a ton of time in LA for work lately and my sister happens to live there too, in Los Feliz, which is a cool hipster neighborhood situated East of Hollywood. When I was visiting a couple of weeks ago she introduced me to an awesome fish taco place that rocked my world – I have to share. It’s called Best Fish Taco in Ensenada. It’s a hole in the wall. And there are just 2 things on the menu: Fish Tacos and Shrimp Tacos. Gotta appreciate simplicity.  The prices are ridiculously cheap and the tacos are heavenly.

Another highlight of my recent time in LA was a visit to the Tommy Hilfiger shop on Melrose where I was on hand to celebrate my girl Cococozy’s collaboration with Tommy. Coco has a fab design blog and lifestyle brand called Cococozy that offers stylish soft goods from pillows and throws to bedding, rugs and home accessories. This summer she partnered up with Tommy Hilfiger to produce two limited-edition pillows for the brand’s laid back summer beachwear capsule collection called Surf Shack. You can check it out here!

Food always seems to be a highlight whenever I travel. My favorite breakfast spot in LA is Larchmont Bungalow which is in the cutest little neighborhood. When I’m in LA I’m usually staying in West Hollywood or Miracle Mile so Larchmont is also a great mid-point when I’m meeting friends that live further East. If you didn’t know, Breakfast is my favorite meal. And here, they serve breakfast all-day y’all  Above is a snap from breakfast with my bestie who is starting a blog (!) that will chronicle her adventures in healthy living, fashion and motherhood. Check out her first post here!

And no visit to LA is complete without a stop at Lemonade! I went here almost every day while in town including 2 super fun girl talk/catch-up dates with my girls Sydne and Sana.

4-So Haute Nicole InstagramAnd since we’re on the subject of food, while having breakfast outside at a super cute cafe in Silverlake, I spotted this gem of a shop called Rubbish. Lots of great mid-century furniture and accessories. Check it out if your’re in the area.

I also hit up the Melrose Trading Post to do a little flea market shopping which is one of my favorite things to do on a Sunday in LA. I got lots of comments about the tank I’m wearing which I bought for a steal on The Outnet! You can buy it here. My shorts are Levi’s 501 (my fave!), my necklace is from BaubleBar and the Ray Ban sunnies and hot orange bag that I’m wearing are my two favorite statement accessories of the summer!

One of my favorite NYC summer pastimes is enjoying a cool cocktail with friends on a chic rooftop with a killer view. I snapped this stunning sunset from the rooftop of  a building in the East 30s. How perfect, right?

Did you watch Behind the Candelabra on HBO yet?? I’m so obsessed I watched it three times already! Michael Douglas was excellent as Liberace and the rest of the cast, the acting, the costumes and the fabulosity make this movie a must-see!

Recently I got an in-depth introduction to Orley Shabahang, a company with roots in my home state of Michigan that specializes in beautiful hand woven antique and contemporary Persian carpets. The company breeds its own sheep and harvests the silk used to make the carpets and all of the colors are achieved using natural dyes from flowers, roots, fruit and other natural ingredients found in the Persian countryside. Their process is quite impressive and each carpet is a true work of art. The patterns above were a few of my favorites.

16-So Haute Nicole InstagramI also popped into the Madeline Weinrib Atelier recently to pick out a few rugs for a client. There are rows and rows of carpets and throw pillows … I just love being surrounded by all that color and pattern!
