How to Make Cold Brew9

By now you’ve probably heard the hype about cold brew coffee. It’s everywhere. Even Starbucks sells it, making cold brew a ubiquitous daily staple that seems to have replaced regular iced coffee for many of us. So what exactly is the deal with cold brew and is it really better? Well, unlike regular coffee which is brewed quickly using hot water, cold brew coffee is steeped in cold water for an extended period of time. Brewing coffee in hot water breaks down and releases all of its acids and oils which often give it a more bitter taste. With the …

What are your 4th of July plans? I’m taking it easy today. During holidays like the 4th in NYC people make a mass exodus out of the city to the beach or the country and the usual hectic pace slows all the way down. It’s quiet, there aren’t as many people around and you can get reservations just about anywhere! It’s awesome! So today I’ll be taking advantage of the city being deserted I think I’ll have brunch, go for a walk in Central Park then spend some time with my nieces and nephews. Lazy days with no set agenda …

mulled-cider-recipe-9

There’s nothing like a cup of hot mulled cider to keep you warm when it’s cold outside. It’s such a simple drink to make…and it fills your home with the most deliciously fragrant aromas of the holiday season. Think  cinnamon, orange peels, warm cloves and star anise…I can smell it already!  The key to a great mulled cider is to start with good, quality cider. I like buying local unpasteurized cider which  has more of a cloudy appearance. Then you add in your spices and for a bit of extra warmth you can even spike your glass with a shot …

I love a sparkling cocktail made with champagne or prosecco for the holidays. A little bit of bubbly always feels festive for the season and this cranberry sparkler couldn’t be easier to make. Lightly sweet and infused with the …

Four Diamonds Frozen Cocktail 3

Summer is finally here which means its time to mix up some frozen cocktails! Last year I took a trip to the Dominican Republic and fell in love with a frozen drink called the Four Diamonds which was served at the resort where I stayed. This rum based cocktail is mixed with strawberries, coconut, Irish cream and ice. I probably shouldn’t admit this but it’s SO good I pretty much inhaled several of these a day during my stay and loved the drink so much I convinced the bartender to give me the recipe! Now I’m sharing it with you! …
