A before and after Brooklyn Brownstone Kitchen Renovation - sohautestyle.com

I love a good before and after and in the case of my #ProjectParkSlope clients, the change after their kitchen reno was quite dramatic as you can see in these side by side photos. Here’s a quick look at the transformation…

This before shot is from the home’s real estate listing. The house was originally built in 1876 and although this pictures is actually fairly recent, the kitchen looked like it was still stuck in 1876! It was originally designed as an open space with a much smaller cooking/refrigeration/sink area to the left and this dining area that you see on the right. The clients wanted to have one beautiful, massive kitchen with their cabinetry extended along the back wall for more workspace, a center island and large windows along the back wall with doors leading out onto their patio…

Here is a progress shot from during the renovation. You can see that the original doors and windows were ripped out, the giant mirror was removed (relocated to the new dining area just outside the kitchen), and new window and door frames added which mimicked the original architectural details. The center island was also added. The credit for this goes entirely to the client’s architect who did a beautiful job designing the window and door feature.  I consulted on the finish, paint and hardware choices and selected all of the decorative accents. Below is what the space looks like today…so much beautiful light pours through those windows. It’s stunning!

The pendant above the island is from Ralph Lauren which you can find here. The counter stools are here from Bungalow 5.  The backsplash is a chevron carrrara marble, the back countertops are white ceaserstone and the island countertop is carrara. The ceiling inset paint color is Benjamin Moore Coventry Gray. Here’s a final before and after comparison. MAJOR upgrade right? Photo by David Land

  1. What an extraordinary transformation! The room is a lot more warm and inviting! It doesn’t even look like the same kitchen!

  2. Beautiful! What color are the walls? I know you said the celing was Coventry Gray. Thanks!

  3. WOW! The results are beautiful. Great placement for the sink, looks great by the large windows. I love that you left the window/door molding a dark chocolate color, it makes it into a focus point that forces you to look out onto the beautiful patio. Its a very simple design yet makes a statement! Great work. – Akire Rose

  5. It’s hard to believe it is even the same kitchen! It looks amazing, thanks for posting
