When I saw this living room of a Parisian loft in the April issue of Cookie it totally grabbed my attention. I’m kind of obsessed. It looks so chic but also very comfortable and lived in. I love the mirror, the Eiffel tower statue in the corner, the built in shelving, the rug…just about everything in the photo. I also love the muted colors which have a similar look and feel to my own living room. I’m not a huge fan of the Noguchi table but it totally works here. The ceiling medallion is also very beautiful but I don’t get why there’s no light fixture attached to it. Nonetheless it’s a beautiful room so I had to share. What do you think?

  1. A beautifully decorated room and yet that elusive real-people-actually-live-here vibe.

I bet that ceiling medallion is from an old gas fixture and no one ever ran electricity to it…

  2. Robin-isn’t it refreshing to see a such gorgeous room that doesn’t look staged or overly styled? And the fact that the kids and the mom are in the shot makes this space seem even more inviting, I think!

  3. You may have just given me a solution to a problem, that is, how to warm up a room without using a conventional fiber rug. I’m allergic to dust mites and am very hopeful that using seagrass or sisal will control that somewhat without having to resort to a bare floor.

Has anyone with similar allergies tried using these rugs? Do they help?

    Great blog, btw!

  4. I didn’t know that Cookie mag had such chic interiors! I will have to check the magazine out. Love it!

  5. Suzanne–Glad I could provide you with some inspiration! I’ll give everyone an update on my rug once I select one!

Alkemie-I didn’t realize Cookie had such chic interiors either until recently. I get it at work but hardly ever look at it since it’s a “mom magazine” and I don’t have kids. Now I look at it every month. They also have a great interiors gallery on their website that you should check out…cookiemag.com.

  6. yes, cookie is super chic!!! i’m not married and i don’t have kids, but i started reading it years ago when i flipped through a copy at my gynocologist. i was shocked at how funny and awesome it was.

(now i work for them, as a disclaimer, but still… 🙂

anyway, i loved this interior. the only thing i found weird is that they live in paris but have an eiffel tower sculpture. i found that kind of overkill. it’s like wearing the concert t-shirt at the concert.

  7. Hey Joanna! So funny re: the Eiffel Tower. I actually liked at first. I thought it made the space feel “more Parisian” in way but you’re totally right. You got me to thinking about how weird it would be if I had a Statue of Liberty sculpture in my apt…it would definitely be a bit too much!

  8. I am very proud of you. My wife reads your blog everyday. Good writing and informative topics. Keep it up! Quit your day job too.
